    Week 8 Weigh In

We weighed in again this morning and are happy with our progress.  Don has lost another 4.2 lbs for a total of 19 lbs, and I lost 2 lbs for a total of 22 lbs.  I did not update last week, as I had the flu and spent most of the week in bed.  Did not get any exercise in, so I am pleasantly surprised that I lost any weight.  Don is only 9 lbs away from his goal.  At the rate he is going, he may make it by the time this challenge is over.  I definately will not finish by then, but at least I have put a good dent in my goal.  We will post are updated photos next Tuesday.  Don is now wearing jeans that he has not been able to fit in for 10 years.  I now fit comfortably in a size 12 pant.  It is so nice to be happy with the way the reflection looks in the mirror, and it is only going to get better.

I know there is only a few more weeks until this challenge is over, but we will continue to update our site weekly until we have reached our goals.  I hope our friends will continue to do the same.  I can't imagine not having the encouragement for everyone.  Keep up the great work!!!!!

    Week 6 Weigh In

We didn't have the greatest week, but we still both lost a little weight.  Don lost 2.2 lbs for a total of 14.8 lbs and I lost 1.4 lbs for a total of 20 lbs. The weather here has been extremely cold and we have not gone out much.  My job this past week has been to hold down the couch and be a TV critic :).  I have been able to catch up on some of my knitting, which I really enjoy.  Don is in London this week.  He will not have a problem sticking to his diet because he HATES the food there.  He packed quite a bit of food to take with him this week.  We are both hoping that next week will be a better week.  Remember: NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS BEING THIN FEELS!

    Week 5 Weigh In

Another good week for us.  Don lost 6 lbs. for a total of a 12.6 lbs. los, and I lost 3.6 lbs. for a total of a 18.6 lbs. loss.  We are extremely happy.  This is getting much easier for us now.  We are automatically making correct choices with our foods now, even when we are extremely hungry.  Before we started this, we would constantly stop by a fast food restaurant when we were out.  Now we head home in between our errands to make something healthy.  I am sorry for not posting last week.  We had construction going on in our home and it was crazy.  Anyone that has had remodeling done will sympathize with us.  I am so proud of Don.  He usually will start a weight loss plan and lose a few pounds, but if the weight does not come off fast enough he will quit.  I don't think he has been in the 180's for 10 years.  He is so thrilled that he is going to have to get smaller jeans.  Hitting the 170's is a big goal of his.  He is almost there.  I am definately feeling a difference in my clothing with almost 20 lbs. lost.  I no longer feel like a sausage stuffing myself into my clothing.  I will update again soon.  Wishing all of our friends continuing good luck and success.

    Week 3 Weigh In

We are doing the happy dance again.  Don lost another 2 lbs. and I lost 4 lbs. this week.  So far Don has lost 9.6 lbs. and I have lost 15 lbs.  I can not believe that three weeks have past so fast.  Don is a little stressed that he is not getting the numbers that I am getting, but with him traveling and eating out everyday, at least he is not gaining.  I'm sure that he will pick up after he returns home later this week.  I have kept myself extremely busy while he is gone.  I have been redecorating our family room and attached bath.  Also giving the house a severe cleaning.  I can't believe how many calories you can burn while cleaning.  Late last evening I was touching up the paint in our family room and dropped the whole can of paint on the carpet.  I immediately ran to the store to buy a steam cleaner and was cleaning the paint out of the carpet at midnight.  It took quite a few times, but I think I got it up.  So today I think I will clean all the carpets upstairs.  My mom has been here visiting while Don has been gone.  We have eaten out a few times, but picked low calorie options.  I introduced her to sushi, which surprisingly she loved.  We have this great little sushi restaurant here and she actually asked me to take her back there the next day for lunch.  I have been checking out all of my friends pages over the last couple of days.  So many of you are doing Terrific!  Keep your eye on the prize of a thinner, healthier body!

    Week 2 Weigh In

We are happy to report another successful week.  I lost 4 lbs. and Don lost 2 lbs.  Don is not so happy with his number, but I think he is doing fabulous for living in a hotel and having to eat all his meals in restaurants.  He has been using the gym at the hotel everyday which I think is helping him not gain any weight.  I had to stop using my treadmill because it was really bothering my knee, so I have been working out on the elliptical most days.  I have been using the Bodybugg for 6 days now, it is an amazing little piece of equipment.  Up until now I really did not know how many calories that I had burned throughout the day. After I enter my food and upload my calories burned, I can see the deficit that I have.  The program lets me know if I have the right amount of deficit to reach my goal for the week.  Here is a little fact that was very surprising to me:  It takes a 3500 calorie deficit to lose 1 lb.  It also keeps track of the steps you take throughout the day.  I reach the goal of 10,000 steps that it set for me on most days.  Sometimes I am surprised that I actually go over.  We want to wish all of our freinds the best of luck this week.  Keep moving and get healthy!

    Week 1 Weigh In

Don and I weighed in this morning and are very happy campers.  Don lost 5.6 lbs. and I lost 7 lbs. for a total of 12.6 lbs.  We want to enourage all of our friends to keep up the GREAT work they have been doing.  These next few weeks may be quite challenging for us.  As I type this, Don is on a plane headed for Tokyo.  He will be there for the next few weeks, so we will not have each other to motivate on a daily basis.  He is a little worried about having to eat restaurant or hotel food for the next couple of weeks.  We spent quite a while last evening going over what would be good choices for him to make.  I just hope I do not slack off on my exercising with him being gone.  I spend a lot of time on the computer being a Cruise Travel Agent, especially this time of year.  It seems everyone is getting tired of the winter weather and booking their cruises to warmer climates.  I will just have to make sure I am more disciplined and make myself exercise. I will keep you posted on how things are going here.

    Made it through the weekend!!

The weekends have always been the hardest for us.  We usually eat out, but not this weekend.  We ran errands all weekend long, but made pitstops back at home to ensure we were eating a healthy meal.  In between the errands we actually were able to fit in some horseback riding and exercise.  We decided to purchase an elliptical trainer this weekend and burned quite a few calories trying them out.  We did not want to purchase something we would not be happy with.  After spending many hours trying them out we decided on the Life Fitness X7.  What a beautiful piece of equipment.  Don had a workout just getting the thing in the house, down the steps and putting it together.  I also spent some time reviewing the BodyBugg and ordered it last night.  Don did not want one. I will keep you updated on what I think of it.  Tonight was my son's birthday and he wanted us to take him out to dinner.  He decided to go to a Japanese Restaurant, which was okay with me.  I love sushi and it fit right into my diet.  We also had some stir fried veggies and a few scallops.  We brought home over half of our meals, which I know my son will devour tomorrow.  I am actually looking forward to my weigh-in tomorrow knowing that I did my very best this week.  Don has also had a great week.  I will update tomorrow on our scale results.  Have a Great Day!

Our Goals and How we ARE going to get there!

Together Don and I plan to lose a total of 74 lbs.  We will be faithfully using our treadmill which until now was used to hang our horse tack on.Embarrassed  Don't laugh, I know we are not the only ones out there using their exercise equipment for storage.  I can only imagine what the trainers on the show would say if they could have seen it.  I know we do not have as much weight to lose as others, but we still have to get to our goals like everyone else.  We both have already cut down our calories and started exercising.  The exercising has not been easy, but I guess it never is when you first start out.  Also, the change in our eating habits has been tough.  With no kids at home and my husband's work hours, we used to eat out almost every night.  Most of the time it was fast food, which he usually grabbed on his way home.  Now I try not to eat past 6pm, and I have a healthy meal waiting for him when he gets home.  I work from home which is tough because I have access to food all day long.  So this weekend we are cleaning out all the junk and going to shop for healthy alternatives.  We would truly LOVE to WIN this contest  and promise to make this a lifestyle change!  Actually we have no choice, because we have bagged up all our FAT clothes and are sending them off to a charity.  We are HUGE (Literally) Biggest Loser fans and always plan an evening around the finale.  We would LOVE to watch the finale in person.

    Our First Entry

We started on this journey 2 days ago.  I am wanting to lose 46 lbs and my hubby Don wants to lose 28 lbs.  More would be nice, but we are trying to be realistic.  I have been a huge fan of The Bigget Loser since it started.  Everytime I hear the theme song it truly lifts my spirits.  Usually when I watch the show I am sitting there eating something with huge calories in it, laughing at myself.  That will no longer be the case.  This Million Pound Match-Up comes at a great time.  We are headed off on a cruise the third week of March 2008 and would love to look and feel better.  Good luck to all my friends!!!Red heart
